In response to Apple’s announcement of its September 12 event, Google had previously revealed that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro would make their official debut on October 4. With just over a week since that revelation, it’s clear that Google can hardly contain its anticipation for the upcoming launch.
As a sign of their enthusiasm, Google released two teaser videos today. The first video takes the traditional teaser approach, offering fleeting glimpses of various products, including the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel 8 Pro.
However, Google didn’t stop there. Approximately an hour later, they unveiled another ‘teaser’ video, which felt more like a product reveal than a teaser. In just 23 seconds, it provides a substantial preview of what’s in store.
Once again, leaks have proven accurate. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro adhere to the same design language as their predecessors, albeit with a sprinkling of minor enhancements. Notably, the Pro model is rumored to feature an infrared thermometer on its rear, sparking curiosity about its practical utility (it’s identifiable as a small blob beneath the LED flash circle).
Turning our attention back to the Pixel Watch 2 showcased in the first video, it’s hard to shake a sense of déjà vu. Its appearance bears a striking resemblance to the original Pixel Watch. In this case, optimism hinges on improvements concealed beneath the surface, particularly in terms of enhanced battery life and an expected array of additional fitness features.
