Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her gratitude to the people of Punjab for not participating in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests, saying, “Bohat Shukria Punjab, Punjab Zindabad.”
“I am thankful to the people of Punjab for not supporting elements creating anarchy and vandalism,” she stated.
Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to reopen all routes across Punjab, including highways and Lahore’s entry and exit points, to ease public movement. She also instructed the administration to ensure the availability of food supplies and to regulate their prices.
Acknowledging the public’s struggles due to road closures amid extremist protests, she reassured them of swift government action to alleviate their hardships.
Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI founder Imran Khan’s spouse, Bushra Bibi, led a march toward Islamabad in support of Khan. Addressing a large gathering, Bushra Bibi vowed to spearhead the movement for Khan’s release, asserting she would be the last to leave the venue. Gandapur encouraged supporters near D-Chowk to remain steadfast until their demands were met.
In response, Punjab police, Rangers, and commandos launched a significant operation on Tuesday night to disperse PTI protesters in Islamabad’s Blue Area. Around 450 activists were arrested, although Bushra Bibi and Gandapur managed to evade detention.
