The aftermath of the general elections in Karachi has unveiled a mixed bag of results, with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-Pakistan) securing victories in 11 out of the 22 National Assembly seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) clinched victory in 5 seats.
In NA-229 Malir 1, PPP candidate Jam Abdul Karim Bijar secured victory with 55,732 votes, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Qadir Bakhsh trailed with 21,841 votes.
In NA-230 Malir 2, PPP candidate Syed Rafiullah emerged victorious with 32,099 votes, defeating the independent candidate Masroor Ali, supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who garnered 23,370 votes.
In NA-231 Malir 3, PPP candidate Abdul Hakim Baloch won with 43,634 votes, narrowly edging out the PTI-supported independent candidate Khalid Mahmood Ali, who received 43,245 votes.
In NA-232 Korangi 1, MQM-Pakistan’s candidate Asia Ishaq secured victory with 88,260 votes, while the PTI-supported independent candidate Adeel Ahmed garnered 66,574 votes.
In NA-233 Korangi 2, MQM-Pakistan’s candidate Javaid Hanif Khan triumphed with 103,967 votes, leaving behind Jamaat-e-Islami’s Abdul Jameel Khan, who secured 29,071 votes.
In NA-234 Korangi 3, MQM-Pakistan’s candidate Muin Aamir Pirzada emerged victorious with 73,687 votes, defeating the PTI-supported independent candidate Faheem Khan, who received 43,774 votes.
The trend continued across other constituencies like NA-235, NA-236, NA-238, NA-239, NA-240, NA-242, NA-243, NA-244, NA-247, NA-248, NA-249, and NA-250, where MQM-Pakistan candidates secured victories against opponents from various political parties including PPP, PTI, and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Overall, MQM-Pakistan’s performance in Karachi reflects a significant stronghold in half of the National Assembly seats, while PPP and other parties maintain a presence in the remaining constituencies.
