The Hina Javed murder case took another turn on Saturday when a Rawalpindi court extended the physical remand of two suspects for four more days as police continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the digital media executive’s death. The suspects, Faisal Asghar, Hina’s husband, and domestic worker Zeeshan, were presented before the District and Sessions Court after their initial three-day remand expired.
Court Grants Four-Day Remand
Police requested a seven-day extension to continue questioning the suspects and recover documents considered relevant to the investigation. These reportedly include records connected with Faisal Asghar’s divorce from his first wife and his marriage to Hina.
After hearing arguments from the prosecution, the court granted a four-day physical remand. The suspects have been ordered to appear before the court again on September 2.
The latest development keeps the Hina Javed murder case under active investigation as police work to establish a complete sequence of events leading to her death.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Rehman Shaukat Bhatti represented the police during Saturday’s proceedings. The prosecution maintained that investigators required additional time to collect evidence and clarify important aspects of the case.
Hina Javed Found Dead at Home
Hina, who worked as a digital media executive, was found dead at her residence in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area on August 20. Police discovered her body tied to a shower in the bathroom after receiving information about an alleged break-in at the house.
Her death initially raised questions about what had happened inside the residence. Investigators subsequently arrested her husband and domestic worker as part of the inquiry.
The case has since focused on the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death, the relationship between the individuals involved and the evidence collected from the scene.
Domestic Worker’s Alleged Confession
The investigation gained further attention after domestic worker Zeeshan reportedly confessed to strangling and torturing Hina, according to police sources.
Investigators were told that Zeeshan had been called to the house during an argument between Hina and her husband. According to the account attributed to him, Hina attempted to escape during the confrontation. Zeeshan allegedly said that he and Faisal grabbed her when she resisted, after which he pressed her throat.
Police sources also said Zeeshan admitted to repeatedly stealing from the household.
The reported confession is now being examined alongside forensic evidence and other material gathered by investigators. A confession alone does not establish guilt, and the allegations will ultimately have to be tested through the legal process.
Post-Mortem Raises Further Questions
The post-mortem examination has provided investigators with additional evidence concerning Hina’s injuries.
According to the report, injuries were found on several parts of her body. Her neck bone was fractured, while injuries were also reported on her ribs and hip bone.
The report also stated that blood was present in the pericardium and heart. The examination was conducted approximately 12 hours after her death by Dr Maria Khalid.
DNA samples were collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis. Other samples were also forwarded for forensic examination.
Importantly, the initial post-mortem did not clearly establish the precise cause of death. Further forensic analysis is therefore expected to play an important role in determining what happened.
Investigation Moving Forward
During an earlier hearing on August 26, Advocate Shah Khawar, who represents Hina’s family, said the investigation was moving in the right direction. He stated that police had collected evidence and conducted forensic examinations.
The extension of physical remand gives investigators additional time to examine the evidence, question the suspects and recover material that may help establish the circumstances of the death.
