Health authorities have confirmed the third case of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in Pakistan this year, with the latest case emerging in Sindh’s Larkana district, the polio program announced on Saturday. This marks the second reported case in Sindh, while another case was earlier detected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pakistan recently concluded its first nationwide anti-polio campaign of 2025, achieving 99% of its target. The drive, conducted from February 3-9, successfully vaccinated over 45 million children.
“We urge parents and caregivers to actively participate in these campaigns and ensure that children receive the polio vaccine,” the polio program emphasized in a statement.
