Mustafa Qureshi Reveals Concerns Over Wife’s Burial and Government Compensation

In a recent interview on his YouTube channel, senior actor Mustafa Qureshi opened up about the burial of his late wife, renowned singer and actress Rubina Ashraf Qureshi. Mustafa Qureshi shared details about the challenges he faced and his desire for a meaningful resting place for his wife.

He revealed that the burial of his wife took place in the vicinity of Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine in Karachi. Additionally, the Sindh Culture Department had allocated a compensation of 500,000 Pakistani Rupees to the Department of Auqaf (Endowment) for Rubina Ashraf Qureshi’s grave.

Expressing his concerns, Mustafa Qureshi stated his belief that the government might have allocated funds for his wife’s burial, but it seemed like the money might have been diverted from one pocket to another within the government.

The veteran actor expressed his wish for his own burial to take place near his wife’s grave as there was only one spot available. He mentioned that he had personally designated a place for himself adjacent to his wife’s grave, emphasizing the desire to be laid to rest close to her.

Mustafa Qureshi noted that he had declined to offer compensation for his grave to the Culture Department. However, he wished for the Auqaf Department not to accept compensation from any artist for their graves. He urged that artists’ resting places should be treated with respect and not be subject to monetary transactions.

Detailing further, Qureshi mentioned that he had not yet paid the designated amount of 500,000 Rupees for his burial, choosing instead to place a stone on the location, engraved with the words “Reserved for Mustafa Qureshi.”

This revelation sheds light on the challenges faced by artists in ensuring dignified resting places and highlights Mustafa Qureshi’s commitment to securing a meaningful location for both himself and his late wife. The actor’s concerns reflect broader discussions about the treatment of artists’ graves and the need for respectful practices within the cultural and artistic community.

As of 2022, Rubina Ashraf Qureshi had passed away, leaving behind a legacy of contributions to Pakistani television and cinema. Her departure marked a significant loss to the entertainment industry.
