Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) have discussed expanding cooperation in science, technology and higher education, with the latest meeting highlighting opportunities for stronger academic ties and joint research. The talks also underscored the growing potential for Russia-COMSTECH cooperation to contribute to broader Russia-Pakistan relations.
On August 12, Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev received a delegation from COMSTECH led by its Coordinator General, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary. The meeting focused on ways to deepen engagement between COMSTECH and Russia, which participates in the OIC framework as an observer state.
The discussions come at a time when international cooperation in science and technology is becoming increasingly important. Universities, research institutions and governments are seeking stronger partnerships to share expertise, develop new technologies and provide students with opportunities to gain international academic experience. In this context, Russia-COMSTECH cooperation could open new avenues for researchers and educational institutions across participating countries.

Both sides stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of the initiatives agreed upon through the working group. Turning agreements into practical projects will be important for ensuring that Russia-COMSTECH cooperation produces measurable benefits.

Opportunities for Pakistan
