Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s military, has categorically denied any behind-the-scenes contact between the army and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. He stressed that the Pakistan Army has no role or interest in political negotiations.
In an interview with the BBC, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) made it clear that political matters should be handled by politicians.
“There are no backdoor contacts with the PTI founder. The army has nothing to do with political negotiations,” Maj Gen Chaudhry said, rejecting ongoing speculation about secret talks amid Pakistan’s turbulent political environment.
unity and patriotism in balochistan
Responding to claims of unrest in Balochistan, Chaudhry dismissed the idea that the province is alienated from the rest of the country.
“Balochistan and Pakistan are one. Balochistan is the crown of our heads,” he said. “We are not Balochi, Sindhi, or Punjabi — we are one nation.”
He also criticized those allegedly working on foreign agendas, particularly individuals supported by India’s intelligence agency RAW, who he said are spreading false narratives on social media about the province.
“Those who live off Indian money and run anti-Pakistan social media accounts are delusional,” he said. He acknowledged that anti-state sentiment does exist in some areas, but insisted it is not as widespread as portrayed.
Chaudhry added that terrorists in Balochistan are intentionally targeting development projects and civilians to disrupt peace and progress. “Whenever terrorists confront us, we hunt them down,” he stated.
firm stance on terrorism and law and order
Maj Gen Chaudhry gave a strong message on terrorism, especially in light of recent attacks in Balochistan.
“Wherever terrorists attack our posts, we crush them. When they came to Gwadar, we eliminated them,” he said. “Terrorists are dragging innocent passengers off buses and targeting unarmed civilians. These brutal acts will not go unpunished.”
He also addressed concerns about missing persons. He noted that a government commission has been formed to investigate these cases and ensure accountability.
“No one should be taken from their home without legal process,” he said. “The government is committed to tracing every single missing person. Our legal system must be strengthened to prevent such incidents.”
warning to afghan interim government
The military spokesperson also issued a stern warning to the interim Afghan government, urging it not to shelter militants involved in cross-border terrorism.
“They have been clearly told — do not support foreign terrorists, or we will take action,” he said.
Maj Gen Chaudhry’s remarks come at a time of heightened tensions, both politically and in terms of national security, as Pakistan continues to face threats from both internal and external elements.
