Quetta Gladiators’ Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel have been penalized with fines amounting to five percent of their match fees for Level 1 breaches of the PSL’s code of conduct during their team’s encounter against Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Abrar was found to be in violation of Article 2.4 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct, which pertains to “Disobeying an umpire’s instruction during the match.” The incident took place in the 19th over of Islamabad United’s innings when, despite instructions from the umpires, Abrar rolled the ball along the ground while fielding.
In a separate incident during the same match, Saud was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct, which concerns “Using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match.” Following the dismissal of United’s batter Salman Ali Agha in the 12th over, Saud approached Salman and made remarks that could potentially provoke the batter.
Both players admitted to the charges and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Mohammad Javed. These penalties were imposed by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Gaffaney.
