The Federal Cabinet has granted approval for the deployment of military personnel for re-polling at 6 polling stations in NA-43 constituency, represented by Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son, Asad Mahmood. This decision comes after concerns regarding potential disruption of peace and security during the polling process.
In the National Assembly constituency NA-43 Tank and Dera Ismail Khan, re-polling is scheduled to take place on February 19th at 9 polling stations. The decision to deploy the military was obtained through a summary submitted by the Ministry of Interior, citing Articles 220 and 245 of the Constitution to ensure peace and security.
The deployment of military personnel at sensitive polling stations aims to prevent any possible disturbances to peace and security during the polling process. However, the Election Commission will determine the number of military personnel to be deployed and their designated locations.
It’s worth noting that in the elections held on February 8th, PTI-backed independent candidate Dawar Khan Kundi secured 63,556 votes, while Asad Mahmood received 62,730 votes. In NA-43 Tank, Muslim League-N and ANP leaders were ousted from the electoral race in favor of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son, Asad Mahmood.
