The founders of Berlin-based fashion label GmbH, Benjamin Huseby and Serhat Isik, have spoken out about the apparent silence within the fashion industry regarding Israel’s war on Gaza. The duo, who delivered a speech in solidarity with Palestine during their show at Paris Fashion Week, expressed that colleagues in the industry are afraid to speak out due to fear of losing their businesses and livelihoods. Huseby and Isik emphasized the importance of resisting despite these fears and called for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, a free Palestine, and an end to the occupation during their Paris men’s fashion week presentation. They noted the rising challenges of antisemitism and Islamophobia in the current political climate and urged the industry to address issues of power, justice, nationalism, and true universal humanity.
