Rising star Rachin Ravindra prepares for Bangladesh test series after world cup triumph.

New Zealand’s emerging talent, Rachin Ravindra, is gearing up for the challenges of a two-Test series against Bangladesh, set to commence on November 28. Ravindra showcased his cricket prowess in the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, accumulating 578 runs at an impressive average of 64.22, along with three centuries and two half-centuries. His left-arm spin also contributed five wickets, with the best figures of 2/21.

Despite a modest Test record, having played only three matches thus far, Ravindra’s outstanding World Cup performance positions him as a strong contender for New Zealand’s playing XI in the upcoming series against Bangladesh, especially after his last Test appearance against the same team in 2022.

In a video released by New Zealand Cricket, Ravindra discussed his approach to the red-ball format, emphasizing the need to adjust to different conditions. He highlighted the transition from white-ball to red-ball cricket, expressing his positive intent and adaptability based on pitch conditions.

Acknowledging the extended duration of Test matches, Ravindra emphasized the importance of maintaining calmness in the team, particularly during the transition from one-dayers to Test cricket. He emphasized the need for players to comprehend the length of a Test match, spanning five days with 90 overs each day.

Ravindra also spoke about the challenges of playing Test cricket in the subcontinent, emphasizing the adjustment required for facing slower bowling. He shared insights from his prior experience in Bangladesh, including a T20I tour in 2021, outlining plans to bowl with a quicker pace to achieve success.

As New Zealand embarks on their tour of Bangladesh, with Tests scheduled in Sylhet and Mirpur, Ravindra aims to contribute to the team’s success, embracing whatever role is assigned to him and hoping to make a significant impact on their quest for victory.
