DELHI (Web Desk) – Akshay Kumar, one of India’s most accomplished actors, recently shared poignant memories from his early life, shedding light on the days when life was far from easy. He opened up about his roots in a modest family and the hardships he faced during his upbringing.
Kumar recounted his time spent in Delhi before eventually relocating to Mumbai. He reminisced, “We lived in a small dwelling at Chandani Chowk where 24 people would sleep in a single room. In the morning, when it was time for exercise, we had to navigate our way over one another to move outside.”
He mentioned acquiring a tiny house in Mumbai, for which he paid a monthly rent of Rs100. Despite the financial constraints they faced during that period, Kumar stressed that there was a profound sense of satisfaction and happiness that prevailed. He contrasted it with the present, stating that people today often experience depression despite their considerable wealth.
In a candid revelation, Akshay Kumar disclosed his academic challenges, acknowledging that he had failed in the seventh grade. To compensate for the loss, he dedicated an entire year to his studies. He humorously shared an anecdote about his father’s reaction, saying that when his father came to reprimand him for his poor examination performance, he asked him about his aspirations. Kumar responded instantaneously, saying, “I want to be an actor.”
