“Chaudhry Parvez Elahi Claims Cousin Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Greenlit His Move to PTI”
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who is currently incarcerated, stated that his cousin and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had given his approval for Elahi to join the PTI. Elahi claimed that Shujaat himself sent him to PTI, citing promises made by PTI chief Imran Khan, including the appointment of Elahi as PTI’s party president. Elahi has faced multiple arrests in recent months and is currently facing various charges, including corruption and involvement in an attack on a judicial complex. His comments were made in response to questions about why he did not rejoin the PML-Q after leaving PTI.
