Mexico awaits US response on extradition of drug lord ‘El Mayo’ zambada.

Mexican Attorney General Alejandro Gertz stated on Tuesday that the U.S. government has yet to respond to Mexico’s request for the extradition of accused drug lord Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.

Zambada, a key figure in the Sinaloa Cartel, was flown to the U.S. and arrested there last year. Mexican authorities have since sought his return to face charges in Mexico, but no official response has been received from Washington.

The case remains a significant point of diplomatic and legal contention between the two nations, as both seek to prosecute the cartel leader for his alleged role in drug trafficking and organized crime.
