Trophy hunting of punjab urial resumes after two-year ban.

Trophy hunting of the Punjab Urial has recommenced after a two-year pause, with an American hunter claiming the first kill in Chakwal.

The hunter acquired the permit for Rs6 million, marking the resumption of this lucrative program. The Punjab Wildlife Department has issued 16 permits this year, collectively generating approximately $328,000 (Rs91.5 million).

Each permit is priced at $20,500, with an additional $500 fee. According to wildlife officials, the decision to resume trophy hunting was based on the growing population of Punjab Urial in the Salt Range, enabling international hunters to participate once again.
