The Khunjerab border, a crucial land connection between Pakistan and China, has been officially closed to all public traffic, trade, and tourism.
The closure, agreed upon by both nations, will remain effective from November 30, 2024, to March 30, 2025. This seasonal suspension is a precautionary measure as the region braces for severe winter weather.
Located at an altitude of approximately 15,500 feet, the Khunjerab Pass endures heavy snowfall and extreme temperatures during winter, making transportation and trade operations nearly impossible. The temporary closure allows both countries to mitigate risks associated with these harsh conditions.
