Iran will not leave Israel’s “criminal acts” unanswered, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said on Monday, following the deaths of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian Revolutionary Guard deputy commander Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan. Both were killed in Israeli strikes on Beirut on Friday.
Kanaani made it clear that while Iran does not seek war, it will not hesitate to respond strongly to Israel’s actions. He emphasized that Iran is closely monitoring the situation with Lebanese authorities and promised that Iran’s response would make Israel regret its actions.
The escalating attacks by Israel against Hezbollah in Lebanon and Houthi forces in Yemen have raised concerns about a broader conflict in the Middle East, potentially drawing in Iran and the U.S., Israel’s primary ally.
