In Sindh, results for 129 seats of the Provincial Assembly have been declared, with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) securing 84 seats. Independent candidates, including those supported by PTI, won 13 seats, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) secured 28, 2, and 2 seats respectively.

Women candidates affiliated with the PML-N, including Noshin Iftikhar from Sialkot, Maryam Nawaz from Lahore, Shazia Mansab from Nankana Sahib, and Tehmina Daulatana from Vehari, have also secured seats in the National Assembly by defeating opposing candidates.

This procedural timeline, as outlined by the Election Act 2017, ensures the timely and orderly conduct of elections, allowing for the swift formation of the government and the commencement of parliamentary proceedings. The requirement for the Election Commission to notify the results within 14 days of polling underscores the importance of transparency and efficiency in the electoral process.

Furthermore, Kundi speculated on the potential scenario wherein the PPP could extend support to a PML-N Prime Minister and sit in the opposition. He stressed the party’s capability to serve as a constructive opposition, irrespective of holding the position of opposition leader.

It is pertinent to mention that in NA-130 Lahore, as per unofficial and non-governmental results, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Muhammad Nawaz Sharif secured victory with 171,024 votes, while Yasmin Rashid trailed with 115,043 votes.

While PTI-backed independent candidates secured victories on a majority of general seats, they faced setbacks on most seats in both the National and Provincial Assemblies of Peshawar.

President Alvi expressed regret over the failure of their extensive efforts, which included over 50 meetings in the Presidential Palace. He lamented that if EVMs had been in use today, his beloved Pakistan would have been spared from this crisis.

Nawaz Sharif delegated the task of meeting with Shahbaz Sharif to Asif Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. They were instructed to hold meetings with political leaders today itself.
