Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has voiced reservations about the possibility of holding elections, stating that they might not be feasible in the current circumstances. Addressing a press conference in Dera Ismail Khan, he emphasized the need for the Election Commission to consider their request seriously.
During the press conference, Maulana Fazlur Rehman underscored that the government, unable to present a budget in June, might face challenges organizing elections. He stated that while JUI-F is willing to participate in elections, the prevailing environment must be conducive. In these circumstances, he questioned how they could effectively run an election campaign.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also highlighted that not only did the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) face rejection, but Akhtar Mengal’s proposals were also dismissed. He pointed out that recent incidents, referring to the firing on a convoy the previous night, contribute to an insecure environment.
Regarding the incident, he described it as an unfortunate event, categorizing it as an act of insecurity. Expressing concerns about the situation, he called for stability in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, emphasizing the need to break the cycle of mistrust between the two nations.
