Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) ticket booking offices will remain closed today (Thursday) for two hours against privatisation as a token strike, announced CBA,
As per Rana Kashif, the Secretary General of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) CBA Lahore, all PIA booking offices across the nation will be shut down for a duration of two hours, from 3 pm to 5 pm, as a demonstration against the proposed privatization of the national airline.
During this period, no passenger tickets will be issued, affirmed Rana Kashif. He added that this action is being undertaken to press for the acceptance of their charter of demands.
In a recent development, the CBA issued a 48-hour ultimatum to both the PIA administration and the interim government, urging them to halt the privatization of the national airline. The union stated that if their demands remain unmet, crucial decisions will be made on the upcoming Friday.
It’s noteworthy that the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCoP) approved the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in a meeting held last Monday. This decision was taken during the session led by then Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar.
