PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has strongly rejected reports suggesting that Imran Khan was satisfied with the end of his party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). In his Barrister Gohar Imran Khan statement, he described the reports as completely false and insisted that the incarcerated former prime minister had never made such remarks.
Speaking to journalists in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, Gohar addressed speculation surrounding Imran Khan’s views on the party, its political movement and the recent developments in KP. The questions emerged after PTI lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar met the party founder at Adiala Jail.
Gohar said Safdar had informed him that Imran was aware of the emergency and governor’s rule imposed in the province. However, he clarified that the meeting did not involve extensive political discussions and that the lawyer had not returned with any major political message.
Gohar Denies Imran Khan Welcomed End of KP Government
Responding to reports broadcast by a television channel, Gohar rejected the claim that Imran Khan had described the end of PTI’s provincial government as a positive development.
He said the former prime minister had not used the words attributed to him and called the report inaccurate.
The PTI chairman’s clarification came amid questions about the party’s position following the suspension of its provincial government and the imposition of governor’s rule in KP.
Gohar maintained that the meeting between Safdar and Imran did not produce any significant political instructions. He said the lawyer had mainly discussed the former premier’s circumstances rather than broader political strategy.
The Barrister Gohar Imran Khan statement was intended to address speculation about Imran’s reaction and clarify what had actually been communicated following the jail meeting.
Salman Safdar Meets Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi
Barrister Salman Safdar met Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, at Adiala Jail on Monday after repeated requests for access.
According to Safdar, the meeting lasted approximately 40 minutes. Discussions focused on their health, living conditions and pending legal matters.
The meeting was significant for PTI because access to the party founder had remained restricted for an extended period. Gohar described Safdar’s interaction as the first such meeting since April 8.
He welcomed the development but argued that restrictions on meetings had contributed to increased political tensions.
Gohar said the party had repeatedly sought permission for political leaders, including himself and Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, to meet Imran Khan. When those efforts did not succeed, the party pursued access through Safdar.
He suggested that allowing regular meetings could have helped reduce tensions and potentially prevented the political situation from reaching its current stage.
PTI Chairman Rejects Reports of Internal Divisions in KP
Gohar also dismissed speculation about divisions within PTI following the suspension of the provincial government.
He said all PTI lawmakers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained aligned with Imran Khan and rejected suggestions that a forward bloc had emerged within the party.
According to Gohar, if any major organisational or political decision becomes necessary, the final decision will rest with the PTI founder.
His remarks were aimed at addressing questions about the party’s unity during a period of political uncertainty in the province.
The Barrister Gohar Imran Khan statement also covered concerns involving KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the provincial assembly speaker.
Gohar described reports about their disappearance as “beyond comprehension” and said the matter concerning their recovery had been referred to a larger bench of the Peshawar High Court.
PTI Calls for Reduced Political Tensions
Addressing the wider political environment, Gohar called on political forces to reduce tensions and work towards de-escalation.
He said political disagreements should be handled in a way that protects democratic processes and avoids further confrontation.
The PTI chairman also reiterated the party’s demand that Imran Khan receive medical treatment and that his personal doctors be allowed to examine him.
The issue of medical access remains among the party’s stated concerns regarding the former prime minister’s detention.
Gohar further clarified that no discussion had taken place about transferring Imran Khan to Bani Gala or moving him to another prison in Islamabad.
Political Situation Remains Uncertain
Gohar’s remarks address several issues facing PTI, including access to its incarcerated founder, developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and speculation about internal party divisions.
His rejection of the television report provides the party’s official position on Imran Khan’s alleged reaction to the end of the provincial government. At the same time, his comments highlight PTI’s continuing demands for access, medical treatment and clarity over developments involving provincial leadership.
The party maintains that its lawmakers in KP remain united behind Imran Khan and that major political decisions will be made by the founder himself.
The Barrister Gohar Imran Khan statement reflects PTI’s effort to clarify its position amid ongoing political uncertainty, while calling for dialogue and a reduction in tensions.
