Former Prime Minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, arrived in Raiwind, his residence in Punjab, after an extended period of living abroad. His return was a significant event, and PML-N party members and supporters gathered to welcome him with enthusiasm, including fireworks and a sacrificial animal to mark the occasion.
Nawaz Sharif’s arrival in Pakistan occurred nearly four years after his departure, and his plane landed at Islamabad International Airport, where prominent PML-N leaders like Ishaq Dar and Ahsan Iqbal received him. Upon arrival at the airport, Nawaz Sharif held discussions with his legal team from the PML-N at the state lounge, where they examined legal documents and signed papers related to his cases.
At the airport, Nawaz Sharif spent approximately two hours before later departing for Lahore on a special flight. He was warmly welcomed by PML-N party workers, including his brother Shehbaz Sharif, at Lahore Airport. From there, Nawaz Sharif proceeded to the venue via helicopter, and a helipad was set up near the Shahi Qila (Royal Fort) for his arrival.
After landing, Nawaz Sharif offered prayers, and he later addressed a large gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan. During his speech, he expressed his desire for serving the nation and emphasized that he harbored no desire for revenge. He stressed the need for unity and nation-building, stating that Pakistan needed to accelerate its development and make revolutionary changes in agriculture, as well as transform the country into an IT powerhouse.
Nawaz Sharif further emphasized the enduring bond between him and the people of Pakistan, asserting that their relationship remained unshaken over the years. He urged the need to refrain from engaging in a war of words and instead focus on strengthening the nation. He committed to increasing revenue and implementing agricultural reforms.
