The prestigious 69th National Film Awards, held in Delhi, saw two accomplished actresses, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon, emerge as winners in the Best Actress category.
Alia Bhatt clinched the award for her remarkable performance in “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” while Kriti Sanon was honored for her outstanding role in “Mimi.” Indian President Droupadi Murmu had the privilege of presenting them with the coveted Silver Lotus Award.
For both Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon, this marked their first National Awards triumph, recognizing their exceptional contributions to Indian cinema.
Alia Bhatt’s winning act in “Gangubai Kathiawadi” showcased her versatility and acting prowess. Dressed in a white-gold saree, reminiscent of her wedding attire, Alia received the award with gratitude, folding her hands in respect. Her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, captured this special moment from the audience. A character video from “Gangubai Kathiawadi” preceded the announcement, highlighting the depth of her portrayal.
Kriti Sanon’s award-winning role in “Mimi” demonstrated her skill and dedication to her craft. She graced the stage in a pastel-colored saree, expressing heartfelt thanks. Her radiant smile reflected her happiness, and a character video from “Mimi” was showcased during the ceremony. Kriti’s parents were also present to cheer her on.
Both actresses received accolades from President Droupadi Murmu, who praised their exceptional work and contributions to the Indian film industry.
The 69th National Film Awards also recognized other noteworthy talents in the industry, including Pankaj Tripathi, who received the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in “Mimi.” Allu Arjun was honored as the Best Actor for his performance in “Pushpa: The Rise,” while “Shershaah” received the Special Jury award. “Sardar Udham” was recognized as the Best Hindi Feature Film, and “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” was awarded as the Best Feature Film, adding to the celebration of Indian cinema’s finest achievements.
