Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former finance minister Hammad Azhar has decided to move the Peshawar High Court (PHC) for protective bail in connection with more than 50 cases filed against him.
Sources reveal that Azhar made the decision after detailed consultations with his legal team. The cases, mostly registered in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Islamabad, include multiple FIRs—many of them linked to the events of May 9.
Azhar’s legal strategy involves securing protective bail from PHC first, which would then allow him to seek regular bail from the relevant trial courts. He is expected to personally appear before the PHC, while his legal team has already compiled a comprehensive record of all the cases.
He has also been declared a wanted individual and absconder in several of the cases.
