The Election Commission has reserved its decision on the request for re-election filed by Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the PML-N, for the NA-15 constituency. The matter was heard in the Election Commission, where Nawaz Sharif’s counsel, Jahangir Jadoon, presented arguments, with Captain Safdar also present.
During the hearing, Jahangir Jadoon informed the commission that they had requested a re-polling based on the February 15th report and submitted a 650-page report. He stated that their case would now be based on the records of the February 15th report.
Jahangir Jadoon revealed that according to the RO’s report, Nawaz Sharif received over 82,000 votes, while the opposing candidate received more than 105,000 votes, with 9,820 rejected votes. However, results from 123 polling stations were missing, and they did not receive Form 45 from 45 presiding officers.
Highlighting irregularities, Jadoon mentioned that the ballot boxes at polling stations were not sealed properly, some had partial seals, and they had not yet received Form 51. He also raised concerns about tampering, especially in this constituency, where there was more tampering than in other areas. He informed the commission that an FIR had been filed against the RO, who fell ill and went missing after being admitted to the hospital.
Commission member Babar Hassan Bharwana questioned why Form 51 was not provided and why polling agents were not given Form 45. Jadoon explained that tampering had occurred with the ballot boxes, and Form 45 had been tampered with. He argued that the election in NA-15 was neither constitutional nor according to election rules.
During the hearing, Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Jahangir Jadoon requested for re-election in NA-15 due to record tampering, stating that their result had been affected. Consequently, the Election Commission reserved its decision on Nawaz Sharif’s plea after the lawyer presented complete evidence.
