Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi arrested from his residence in Islamabad, ARY News reported.
According to reports, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi got arrested because of the Cypher case and was taken to the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) headquarters.
In a press conference today, the PTI leader denied rumors about problems within the core committee, saying that a media group is spreading false stories about it.
He also mentioned that there’s no plan to replace the PTI chairman in the party, and he’ll be released from jail soon.
Earlier, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and former federal minister Asad Umar from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were asked to appear before the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) Counter Terrorism unit for the cypher case.
A team of investigators, formed by the government, looked into the actions of former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and former finance minister Asad Umar.
It’s important to note that Azam Khan, who used to work closely with the PTI chairman and former prime minister, recently came forward with surprising information. He stated that the former prime minister had used a US communication method for his own political benefit and to avoid a vote of no confidence.
Azam Khan, who had been missing for several months, suddenly reappeared and shared these details about the US communication method while giving a statement to a magistrate as per the law.
Back in September of last year, there was an alleged audio recording of the ex-prime minister and Azam Khan discussing this US communication method. The PTI leader claimed that this led to his government being removed from power. In the alleged conversation, Azam Khan can be heard telling the former prime minister about a controversial diplomatic message.
