The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has officially declared its intent to hold election rallies across the country, marking a significant move as the political landscape intensifies in anticipation of the upcoming elections. Rana Sanaullah, the President of PML-N in Punjab and former Interior Minister, made this announcement during an interview on Geo News’ morning show.
According to Sanaullah, the groundwork regarding the distribution of election tickets has been completed, and the party plans to release the list of candidates by either tonight or tomorrow. PML-N is set to kick off its nationwide election rallies from January 15th. These rallies will serve as a platform for the party to present its agenda and engage with the public in the run-up to the elections.
Rana Sanaullah outlined that the leadership of the election campaign would be spearheaded by Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister, and key figures like Maryam Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif. The party aims to conduct around 60 rallies throughout the country, with Maryam Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif initiating the campaign from January 15th. Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to start addressing his rallies from January 17th.
In response to queries about Nawaz Sharif’s potential candidacy for the presidency, Sanaullah emphasized that the Head of Government holds the real power, and the President requires advice from the Prime Minister for various decisions. He suggested that Pakistan needs Nawaz Sharif in a role where he can make operational decisions, potentially alluding to the Prime Minister’s position.
Addressing seat adjustments with other political parties, Sanaullah highlighted that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has reached a seat adjustment agreement with the PML-N. However, he mentioned that seat adjustments with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been finalized in Gujarat and Bahawalpur.
As PML-N gears up for its election rallies and the subsequent release of nomination lists, the political dynamics in Pakistan are poised for further development. The strategic choice of constituencies and the party’s engagement with voters during these rallies will play a crucial role in shaping the narrative leading up to the elections.
