Petition for Panama JIT Volume 10, Supreme Court to hear on Tuesday

In the Supreme Court of Islamabad (Representative of Jang, Jang News), a hearing has been scheduled for the JIT (Joint Investigation Team) report regarding the release of the Volume 10 of Panama Papers leaks case. Additionally, a hearing for the cancellation of bail for Maryam Nawaz in connection with allegations of assets beyond known sources of income has been set for August 22nd. Chief Justice Omar Ata Bandial will preside over a 2-member bench on Tuesday, August 22nd, to conduct the hearing on the case. Notices have also been issued to other parties, including the Attorney General.

It is important to note that the company Broadsheet had filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court to obtain 10 volumes of the JIT report. In this petition, they claim that the Sharif family sought NAB’s assistance in searching for their offshore properties, but NAB authorities did not fulfill their obligation. Furthermore, Broadsheet had initiated legal proceedings in the UK against the Pakistani NAB, aiming to present the Volume 10 as evidence in the British court. They have also filed a request in the Supreme Court based on the plea to issue orders to provide Volume 10 to the court.

Meanwhile, in the Supreme Court, requests for hearings have been scheduled to reconsider the cancellation of bail for Maryam Nawaz, Senior Vice President and Chief Organizer of the Muslim League-N, and for the advisers of the Prime Minister, Ahad Cheema, on the NAB’s request.
