The UK Health Security Agency (HSA) has reported the detection of a new strain of swine flu in a person in the UK. The virus, found in pigs, was identified in an individual with mild respiratory symptoms. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the infection and assess its potential spread among humans. Close contacts of the affected person are being monitored. The new strain, named Influenza A(H1N2)v, is similar to viruses circulating in pigs in the UK. The HSA is collaborating with partner agencies to understand the characteristics of the virus and evaluate the risk to human health.
