ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Ministry of Interior has declined to present the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), citing security concerns as the primary reason.
Both the ministry and the Islamabad police have officially notified the ECP about their apprehensions regarding the security risks associated with producing the former prime minister. The ministry has issued an official apology to the ECP.
Despite the Election Commission having issued production orders for the PTI chief, it has been confirmed that he will not be presented before the commission, as per the ministry’s decision. The ECP had scheduled a contempt case for today (Tuesday), during which the former premier was expected to be indicted. Additionally, a petition requesting the removal of the PTI chief from his role as the party chairman is set to be heard on October 26.
It is worth noting that, according to the production orders, the PTI chairman was required to appear before the ECP in connection with the contempt case.
