In light of the ongoing 9th and 10th class examinations in Karachi, Chairman of the Matriculation Board, Ghulam Hussain, has issued important directives concerning examination procedures, particularly for female students. The new guidelines aim to ensure a respectful and fair environment during the exams while maintaining strict discipline across all centres.
According to the chairman’s instructions, female students will not be required to remove their burqas or abayas at any examination centre. This decision has been taken after confirming that there have been no reported cases of cheating involving female candidates, making such measures unnecessary. He emphasized that respect for students’ privacy and cultural values must be maintained at all times.
The chairman also issued a strong warning to examination authorities, stating that strict action will be taken against any centre found forcing female students to remove their religious attire. This step reflects the board’s commitment to safeguarding students’ rights and dignity during the examination process.
In addition, it has been directed that no male invigilators should be assigned to centres designated specifically for female students. This measure is intended to create a comfortable and secure environment for candidates.
The annual matriculation exams, which began last Friday, are being attended by approximately 385,000 students across Karachi. To ensure transparency and prevent malpractice, authorities have implemented strict monitoring measures. Section 144 has been imposed around examination centres to control crowds, mobile phones have been completely banned, and nearby photostat shops have been closed to eliminate any chances of paper leaks or cheating.
Despite these precautions, the examination process has faced criticism and controversy. There have been widespread allegations of paper leaks, bribery, and administrative shortcomings, raising concerns about the fairness and integrity of the exams. Authorities, however, have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to address these issues and ensure a smooth examination process for students.
