Nawaz Sharif officially announces his return home scheduled for the upcoming month.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has officially confirmed his intention to return to Pakistan in October this year. Nawaz, who has been in self-imposed exile in London since November 2019 due to health concerns, made this announcement during a meeting with his party’s supporters at Stanhope House on Friday. The attendees included former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders such as Chaudhary Tanveer, Danyal Chaudhary, Chaudhary Nadeem Khan, Dr. Anjum, and more.

Sources present at the Stanhope House meeting indicated that Nawaz’s return to Pakistan is scheduled for next month, although an exact date has not been confirmed. Geo News had previously reported three weeks ago that Nawaz Sharif was planning to return to Pakistan in mid-October, with sources suggesting it would be in the second half of the month.

Two weeks ago, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif announced that his elder brother would indeed be returning in October and would lead the party’s election campaign. He also stated that Nawaz would face the legal system upon his return to Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif had traveled to London on November 19, 2019, when he became critically ill while in prison. His family alleged that the government led by Imran Khan and its supporters had attempted to poison him. Nawaz received treatment at the Harley Street Clinic and London Bridge Hospital for four months. He was diagnosed with an immune system disorder, and doctors in Pakistan had recommended overseas treatment due to the worsening of his condition despite the best care available in the country.
