The KHI Awards 2024, hosted by K-Electric (KE), concluded with a grand ceremony on Friday, recognizing 45 outstanding organizations across 13 diverse categories. This year’s event marked a significant milestone with a 50% increase in total grant allocation, bringing the reward amount to an impressive PKR 60 million, which will be disbursed through electricity rebates. The initiative continues to honor organizations dedicated to driving meaningful social change across Karachi.
A Record-Breaking Year for KHI Awards
This year, 166 organizations submitted entries, with 41 first-time applicants. After a rigorous audited selection process, 129 applicants qualified to present their projects to an independent jury. KE’s KHI Awards, under the theme “Khidmat Ka Jazba Rahe Roshan Sada,” continue to champion institutional philanthropy by celebrating initiatives that make a tangible impact in various sectors.

Reflecting on the achievement, Moonis Alvi, CEO of K-Electric, expressed his pride in how the KHI Awards have evolved into an institutional platform that not only recognizes impact but also connects changemakers with shared visions.

One of the standout aspects of the KHI Awards is its transparent and merit-based selection process. Saad Amanullah Khan, Chairperson of the KHI Awards Jury and Member of KE’s Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of an ecosystem of changemakers working together to drive progress.
The KHI Awards function as a wheel for collaboration, bringing together organizations and enablers who share a common goal: a stronger, more inclusive Karachi. What sets this platform apart is its independent evaluation process, led by a distinguished jury and audited by globally recognized firm EY (Ernst & Young). With SEED Ventures as our award office partners, KE has ensured that recognition is awarded solely on merit, allowing NGOs to showcase their contributions and expand their reach,he explained.
Championing Women-Led Initiatives & Social Impact
A key highlight of KHI Awards 2024 was the recognition of women-led organizations that are driving real change. Sadia Dada, Chief Distribution and Marcomms Officer at KE, shared her thoughts on the initiative’s impact:
When we launched KHI Awards, our goal was to bring transparency and equity to corporate giving. This year, 166 organizations stepped forward to make a difference, and it brings me great joy to see nine women-led organizations among our winners—a testament to how women are shaping Karachi’s socio-economic fabric. The Awards have become a hub for changemakers, fostering collaborations that drive meaningful progress.
