Beyoncé made history at the Grammy Awards by winning Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter, marking her first recognition in the genre. The superstar, visibly surprised, expressed gratitude, saying, “Really, I was not expecting this. I want to thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years.”
The album, previously snubbed by the Country Music Awards, was also nominated for Album of the Year. Despite holding the record for most Grammy wins (32), Beyoncé has yet to secure the top prize.
This year’s Grammy ceremony doubled as a fundraiser for victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, which claimed 29 lives and displaced thousands, including musicians. The event opened with a star-studded performance of I Love LA, featuring John Legend, Brad Paisley, St. Vincent, and Brittany Howard.
Other major winners included:
- Sabrina Carpenter, who won Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet, celebrating her first Grammy with an emotional speech.
- Doechii, who became only the third woman to win Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, using her moment to inspire Black women and girls.
The show, broadcast live on CBS, was hosted by Trevor Noah, who emphasized the night’s tribute to Los Angeles and its impact on the music industry.
