Pakistan has advanced to the semi-finals of the SAFF U16 Championship after a dominant performance that saw them defeat the Maldives.

Pakistan secured a convincing 3-0 victory over the Maldives in the SAFF U16 Championship, earning them a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament held in Bhutan.

The Green Shirts showcased their excellent form by taking the lead with Subhan Karim scoring the opening goal in the 14th minute. Despite the Maldives’ efforts, they failed to find the back of the net throughout the match.

Pakistan extended their lead when Abdul Samad scored the second goal in the 39th minute. Later in the game, a Maldives goalkeeper’s own goal further increased Pakistan’s lead, resulting in a 3-0 victory.

As a result of this victory, Pakistan is set to face the runner-up from Group A in the semi-finals, with the match scheduled for September 8.

In their opening match of the tournament, Pakistan’s U16 football team defeated the host nation, Bhutan, with a score of 2-1 at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan. Despite Bhutan taking an early lead with a goal in the 13th minute, Pakistan made a remarkable comeback. Captain Ubaid Ullah Khan equalized in the 17th minute, and Subhan Karim scored the winning goal in the 30th minute. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Pakistan.
