Richard gere reflects on moving to spain with family: “happier than ever”.

Richard Gere recently shared insights into his family’s move from the United States to Spain, revealing that the transition has brought him and his loved ones immense happiness. In an interview with Elle España, the 75-year-old actor, accompanied by his wife Alejandra Silva and their two young children, Alexander (5) and James (4), along with Silva’s 11-year-old son Albert from a previous marriage, expressed their joy in this new chapter of their lives.

“The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum. We are happier than ever,” Gere shared. “Alejandra is at home, and I am happy because she is happy.”

This decision to relocate to Spain comes after Gere put his Connecticut home, purchased in 2022 for $10.8 million, on the market in November 2024. Gere had already mentioned his desire to leave the U.S. and move closer to Silva’s family and heritage, particularly in La Coruña, Spain. Silva, 41, has spent significant time with Gere in the U.S. since their marriage in 2018, but now the family is focused on starting fresh in Spain.

In a past interview with Vanity Fair Spain, Gere explained the move: “For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture… She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers.”

Further discussing the decision, Gere told The Today Show in November, “My wife is Spanish, and we’re going there for her family, her friends, her culture. The kids are bilingual, so it’s really going to be great for them.”

Gere’s move to Spain mirrors the choices of other celebrities, like Eva Longoria, who also revealed in November that she and her family are splitting their time between Spain and Mexico City, expressing her desire to escape the challenges of the U.S. political climate.
