NADRA blocks over 71,000 CNICs in five years.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) blocked 71,849 Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) over the past five years, as revealed by documents submitted by the Ministry of Interior in the National Assembly.

These CNICs were blocked due to being fake or issued to ineligible individuals.

A regional breakdown of the blocked cards shows:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 25,981 cards
  • Balochistan: 20,583 cards
  • Punjab: 13,564 cards
  • Sindh: 9,677 cards
  • Islamabad: 1,370 cards
  • Azad Kashmir: 446 cards
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 228 cards

During the same period, NADRA unblocked 44,460 CNICs after completing the verification process.
