Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), calling it a “fitna” (mischief) and accusing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of misusing state resources to support its recent “do-or-die” protest in Islamabad.
“This is not a political party but a fitna and a group of terrorists,” the premier remarked during a high-level meeting on the country’s law and order situation. He directed authorities to file cases against such “groups” involved in activities that disrupt public peace.
The criticism comes in the wake of PTI’s three-day protest, which saw significant mobilization in the federal capital, sparking tensions between the federal government and PTI-led provincial administrations. The prime minister condemned what he described as an organized “onslaught” on Islamabad, orchestrated using provincial government resources.
The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order while addressing challenges posed by political unrest.
