The election schedule will be announced in a few days, Chief Election Commissioner

Chief Election Commissioner Syed Sultan Raja has announced that the Election Schedule could be declared in the coming days. He conveyed this during discussions with delegations from various political parties. According to details, the Election Commission has initiated a consultation process with political parties for the upcoming general elections. On Wednesday, delegations from Awami National Party (ANP), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), and Balochistan National Party (Mengal) visited the Election Commission. While ANP and BAP proposed elections within 90 days as per the constitutional requirement, Balochistan Awami Party (Mengal) demanded completion of constituency delimitation before elections.

On the same day, two major political parties of Balochistan held a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner and presented their recommendations for the upcoming elections. After the meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner, ANP’s Secretary-General Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated that distrust regarding election arrangements should be eliminated. He emphasized that providing a level playing field is the responsibility of the Election Commission.

Agha Hasan Baloch, central leader of Balochistan National Party (Mengal), highlighted that his party has submitted its policy to the Election Commission and has also communicated its reservations. He expressed the desire for timely elections, stressing that elections within the mandated 90 days are crucial. He underscored the necessity for on-time elections to ensure the parliamentary continuity and to send a positive message.
