The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will kick off tomorrow in the UAE, featuring 10 teams over an 18-day tournament. Pakistan, placed in Group ‘A’, will compete alongside Australia, India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Group ‘B’ includes Bangladesh, England, Scotland, South Africa, and the West Indies.
Under the captaincy of Fatima Sana, Pakistan will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. A highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals India is set for 6 October at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DICS). Pakistan will also face defending champions Australia on 11 October and conclude their group stage against New Zealand on 14 October at the same venue.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on 17 and 18 October, with the final scheduled for 20 October at the DICS, starting at 6 pm local time.
Pakistan’s preparations for the tournament included two warm-up games against Scotland and Bangladesh, as well as practice sessions to adapt to local conditions. Captain Fatima Sana expressed confidence in her team’s form and readiness, citing their recent home series against South Africa as crucial in building momentum.
