Meta has launched new AI-powered features that allow users to generate images for profile pictures, stories, and chats directly through prompts. This new “Meta AI Imagine” feature enables users to create customized images, offering enhanced privacy and creative control over their digital presence. Instead of manually uploading photos, users can now generate profile pictures based on their preferences, replacing the previous method of uploading character or animal images for privacy protection.
Additionally, users can receive suggestions for story captions on Facebook and Instagram, making content creation more interactive. Like other AI models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Gemini, Meta AI now allows users to share photos in chats and ask questions about the content. For instance, Meta suggests users could upload a flower image and inquire about its species or share a dish photo and ask for the recipe.
Meta is also testing AI-generated content in Facebook and Instagram feeds, offering users AI-curated images based on interests and current trends. Through real-time interaction, users can modify or recreate images by swiping or choosing from suggested prompts. Meta AI can change backgrounds, remove objects, and even update outfits in photos.
These new capabilities are powered by Meta’s Llama 3.2 models, enabling multimodal features that enhance image generation and editing. Meta is set to roll out these features in Messenger soon, allowing personalized chat themes with AI-generated images, further expanding customization options.
During the Meta Connect 2024 conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted Meta AI’s rapid growth, aiming to become the most-used AI assistant globally. With nearly 500 million monthly interactions, Meta AI’s integration into various products is a key milestone in its AI-driven future.
