Punjab government dissolves punjab healthcare commission.

On Thursday, the Punjab government dissolved the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) under the Punjab Healthcare Commission (Amendment) Act, 2024. The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED) issued a notification for the dissolution of the commission.

Following the provincial cabinet’s decision, the competent authority removed seven existing commissioners of the Board of Commissioners (BoC), PHC, under the provisions of Section 6(1)(a) of the Punjab Healthcare Commission (Amendment) Act, 2024. The removed commissioners are:

  • Justice (Retd) Bilal Khan
  • Dr. Talat Afza
  • Dr. Riaz Ahmad Tasneem
  • Sami Ibrahim
  • Dr. Muhammad Shafiq Pitafi
  • Dr. Azim ud Din Zahid Lakhvi
  • Hamesh Khan

Previously, one of the Board of Commissioners members, Salman Siddique, had resigned, and another commissioner, Dr. Umar Farooq Khan, had passed away.
