Electricity consumers are facing an impending tariff increase of Rs2.63 per unit due to the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for electricity usage in June 2024.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), representing distribution companies (DISCOs), has filed a formal request with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to raise the electricity price by Rs2.6307 per kilowatt hour (kWh) under the FCA.
The CPPA’s detailed submission reveals that the reference fuel charges collected from consumers in June were Rs7.1403 per unit, while the actual cost was Rs9.7710 per unit.
NEPRA has scheduled a public hearing for July 31 to review and discuss the proposed increase.
