A series of tragic incidents involving roof collapses has resulted in the loss of seven lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the province grapples with sporadic bouts of rain and snowfall.
As per the Director-General of Rescue in Peshawar, the victims include five children, a woman, and a man, with five others sustaining injuries in various rain-related incidents. Additionally, numerous animals perished due to the roof collapses. These incidents occurred in Peshawar, Lower Dir, and Bajaur regions.
The collapse of roofs in different districts has not only claimed lives but also led to significant financial losses for the affected individuals, as stated by the Rescue DG.
In the Lower Dir area, three individuals were trapped under debris following a mudslide that struck their residence. Rescue teams promptly responded, recovering the bodies and providing medical assistance to the injured who were then transported to hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Khyber district of KP has been experiencing continuous rain and snowfall for the third consecutive day. The persistent downpour has resulted in flooding in low-lying areas of the provincial capital, exacerbating the situation for residents.
Moreover, landslides have obstructed highways in the upper regions, disrupting normal life and posing additional challenges for authorities in managing the aftermath of the inclement weather.
