Coalition Government Formation Underway in Balochistan

Following the agreement between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to form a coalition government at the federal level, the process of government formation in Balochistan has also commenced, with clear indications emerging regarding the provincial administration.

According to sources, a coalition government comprising three parties will be established in Balochistan. PPP, PML-N, and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) will share power in the provincial government.

It is reported that Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), National Party (NP), Balochistan National Party (BNP), and BNP-Awami are likely to sit in opposition.

The finalization of government formation is expected within one to two days, with the announcement of the Chief Minister’s name. The leadership of Balochistan will be held by PPP, while a senior minister from PML-N will also be appointed.

The appointment of the Governor of Balochistan will be made from PML-N, while the Speaker of the Assembly will be from PML-N, and the Deputy Speaker will be from BAP.

Reports suggest that the provincial cabinet will comprise an equal number of ministers from PPP and PML-N, with six ministers from each party. Additionally, two ministers from Balochistan Awami Party will also be included in the cabinet. The advisors’ appointments will be made by PPP and PML-N.

The formation of a coalition government in Balochistan reflects the evolving political landscape in the province, with major parties coming together to navigate the complexities of governance and address the region’s developmental challenges.

The equitable distribution of ministerial portfolios among coalition partners aims to ensure representation and inclusivity in decision-making processes. As Balochistan prepares for a new administration, the collaborative efforts of PPP, PML-N, and BAP will be crucial in fostering stability and progress in the province.
