Health Concerns Prompt Resignation: Federal Secretary of Pakistan Election Commission Advised Bed Rest

Islamabad: Omar Hameed, the Federal Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan, revealed that on January 5, he tendered his resignation, following which the Chief Election Commissioner recommended bed rest.

In a telephonic conversation with a senior journalist from a news group, the Election Commission’s Secretary explained that instead of continuing routine work, doctors advised him to take a break for medical treatment. Despite submitting his resignation on January 5, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has not fully accepted the resignation and has, in fact, recommended complete bed rest during the course of treatment.

It’s noteworthy that Omar Hameed had previously served in the Cabinet Division and held important positions in the Federal Ministry of Finance.

The Federal Secretary, Omar Hameed, had been entrusted with significant responsibilities in the National Food Security and Research before his appointment as Secretary of the Election Commission. His tenure in various key positions reflects his commitment to efficiently discharging his duties.

As health takes precedence, the Election Commission awaits a decision on Omar Hameed’s resignation. The developments surrounding the resignation shed light on the intersection of health concerns and administrative responsibilities within the country’s electoral framework.
