In a spirited address to the Worker’s Convention, MQM-Pakistan’s Convener, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, declared that any selection through elections would not be acceptable, emphasizing the party’s commitment to transparent and fair electoral processes. Addressing the convention, he reflected on the past election where the city’s representation was allegedly snatched through fraudulent means. Siddiqui expressed optimism that a new dawn was on the horizon, reflecting the hopes of the people.
Siddiqui underscored the significance of holding free and fair elections, asserting that the upcoming polls must reflect the true aspirations of the public. Drawing attention to the alleged electoral malpractices in the previous election, he vowed that MQM-Pakistan would not tolerate any form of selection masquerading as an election.
On the other hand, Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan, a member of the Coordination Committee, reinforced the party’s stance, stating that MQM-Pakistan is not just contesting elections to secure opposition seats. He highlighted that without MQM-Pakistan, no one can become the Prime Minister, emphasizing the party’s pivotal role in national politics.
Hassan further elaborated that MQM-Pakistan stands as a champion for the people’s rights and dignity, emphasizing the need to ensure that elections are conducted without any compromise on fairness and transparency. He illustrated a scenario where a political party raised the slogan “Respect the Vote,” only to witness the value of a senatorial seat skyrocket to 50 crores. He depicted a vivid picture of a leader who, instead of standing up for their constituents, abandoned their constituency for personal gains, leaving the public disillusioned.
