ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Election Commission of Pakistan is set to address objections filed against the preliminary delimitations in a two-day session to be held in Islamabad.
ECP has organized two dedicated benches for the purpose of hearing these objections. These benches will meticulously examine the petitions against the preliminary delimitations of various districts.
On the first day, the first bench will convene to consider petitions regarding delimitations in areas including Islamabad, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Sialkot, Khuzdar, and Rajanpur. Meanwhile, the second bench will focus on petitions from Kurram, Khyber, Nankana Sahib, Attock, Jhelum, Kohat, and Korangi.
On the second day, bench number 1 will address objections raised in districts such as Malir, Sanghar, Swat, Haripur, Chakwal, and Pishin. Bench number 2 will handle petitions concerning delimitations in Mardan, Karachi East, Musakhel, Lodhran, Nowshero Feroze, Hub, Lasbela, and Awaraan.
These special benches of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will meticulously review a total of 1,324 objections related to constituency delimitations.
The ECP spokesperson has conveyed that objectors were notified about their hearing schedules on November 1 and 2. Following a thorough review of all objections, the official publication of constituency details is scheduled for November 30.
In response to objections filed with the Election Commission for various provinces, including Islamabad, 672 objections were registered in Punjab, 228 in Sindh, 293 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 124 in Balochistan, and 7 in Islamabad.
It’s worth noting that the Election Commission had previously extended the deadline for filing constituency delimitation objections to 12:00 pm on October 27, 2023, to accommodate the public.
