Shehbaz Sharif, Muhammad Yunus discuss strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh ties at UNGA.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser to the Government of Bangladesh, on Thursday in New York on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to building constructive and forward-looking relations with Bangladesh, grounded in mutual respect, trust, and shared goals of regional peace and prosperity.

During the warm and cordial meeting, both leaders reviewed the state of bilateral relations and discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, regional connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. Professor Yunus welcomed Pakistan’s outreach, stressing the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and cultural linkages.

The interaction reflected a mutual commitment to work together for the well-being of their people and the stability of South Asia.

Separately, Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, joined a key networking session between the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). Meeting with DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed and board members, Mr. Khan highlighted the noticeable rise in trade and commercial activity between Pakistan and Bangladesh, pointing to growing economic collaboration.
